Staff Electrical Design Engineer (Aerospace & Defense)

Location: Farmingdale, New York, United States; onsite

Salary: $149,978–$263,755 per year, with a possible annual or quarterly bonus.

What you will do

• Lead the research, development, design, integration, and testing of hardware and firmware components, equipment, and systems.
• Develop complex system-level hardware architectures, including design partitioning, FPGA and critical-component selection, and hardware requirements allocation.
• Implement high-speed digital signal processing functions in FPGAs, including digital filters and FFTs.
• Perform hardware integration, firmware implementation, board- and box-level testing, timing analysis, and bus-bandwidth analysis.
• Conduct trade studies, technical reviews, design presentations, and customer and internal engineering meetings.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to electrical engineers, lead development groups, and prepare schedules and engineering estimates.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience and a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience with high-speed firmware design at 300 MHz, digital filters, FFTs, and high-speed board design.
• Experience with Xilinx RFSoC and MPSoC, DDR5 memory, point-of-load power distribution, and complex hardware debugging.
• Experience verifying firmware against system models and using MATLAB and Xilinx Simulink for firmware design.
• Must have a background that would permit the US Department of Defense to issue a Secret clearance when required.
• ITAR-controlled products and technical data are restricted to US Citizens and US Permanent Residents; export-control compliance is required.

Nice to have

• Radar signal processing experience.
• DO-254 DAL A or DAL C experience.
