Automation and Controls Engineer (Manufacturing)

Location: Chaska, Minnesota, United States; onsite manufacturing role

Salary: $74,500–$99,500 per year, plus annual bonus eligibility

What you will do

• Design, develop, and implement PLC, HMI, SCADA, vision, robotics, and industrial control systems.
• Lead automation projects from concept and programming through commissioning, validation, startup, and production support.
• Develop electrical designs, control architectures, schematics, network diagrams, documentation, version control, and change management processes.
• Optimize equipment performance, cycle times, reliability, and safety using data-driven analysis and continuous improvement methods.
• Diagnose complex electrical, controls, communication, and system integration issues while supporting industrial networks and connectivity.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, mechanical, manufacturing engineering, and global teams; provide technical leadership and mentorship to technicians.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of automation and controls engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong PLC programming experience, preferably with Allen-Bradley and the Logix platform, plus HMI/SCADA experience such as FactoryTalk or Ignition.
• Experience with robotics, electrical system design, motion control, servo drives, industrial communication protocols, and network architecture.
• Experience leading equipment commissioning and startup, with strong troubleshooting, analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Must be 18 or older and authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available now or in the future, including H1B, TN, and STEM OPT sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with FANUC robotics, SolidWorks or SolidWorks Electrical, data systems, MES integration, Industry 4.0, or smart factory technologies.
• Knowledge of safety systems, lockout/tagout, machine safety circuits, and risk assessments.
