Continuous Improvement Engineer Co-Op (Lean Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Collect, analyze, and interpret operational data to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to reduce waste, bottlenecks, variation, and inefficiency.
• Conduct time studies, motion studies, workflow assessments, and manufacturing floor observations.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations on process improvement projects.
• Support root-cause investigations, corrective and preventive actions, kaizen events, and improvement workshops.
• Develop SOPs, work instructions, process maps, dashboards, visual management systems, and standardized work practices.
• Evaluate layouts, ergonomics, material flow, tooling, fixtures, equipment, and automation opportunities.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a co-op program and familiar with university requirements for participation.
• Completed at least two years in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Graduation year 2028 or earlier preferred.
• Available for 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., from January through June 2027.
• Ability to manipulate mechanical assemblies and objects weighing up to 25 pounds and investigate shop floor activities.
