Continuous Improvement Manager (Lean Manufacturing): Leading plant-wide continuous improvement projects for heavy manufacturing operations with an accent on Lean methodology, 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, and production KPI improvement. Focus on building a continuous improvement culture, solving quality and delivery issues through root cause analysis, and sustaining gains across production teams and shifts.

Location: Columbus, Ohio, United States; onsite plant role

What you will do

  • Lead continuous improvement projects across a single manufacturing facility using Lean methodologies and production KPI targets.
  • Drive 5S, Visual Management, Kaizen, Standard Work, Root Cause Analysis, and Value Stream Mapping initiatives.
  • Develop and execute internal and external Kanban systems to improve material flow and productivity.
  • Coach Kaizen champions, mentor production teams, and build a site-level continuous improvement network.
  • Partner with plant leadership, supervisors, Safety, Operations, and cross-functional teams to sustain improvements.
  • Manage SternDrive initiatives related to shop-floor productivity, material cost reduction, back-office productivity, and plant assessment goals.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing, including responsibility for teams in a production environment.
  • Experience implementing continuous improvement programs and managing improvement projects.
  • Experience leading Root Cause Analysis and Kaizen events.
  • Ability to execute current-state and future-state Value Stream Mapping and identify waste across processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; an Engineering degree is preferred.
  • Strong communication, analytical, relationship-building, influencing, and change-management skills.

  • Advanced degree or MBA.
  • Practical experience in heavy manufacturing.
