TL;DR
Co-op, Mechanical Lifecycle Engineering (Medical Devices): Supporting manufacturing improvement and medical device lifecycle projects in an onsite Acton facility with an accent on root cause investigation, process qualification, testing, and supplier development. Focus on designing test procedures and fixtures, analyzing manufacturing data, leading process improvement initiatives, and applying Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing concepts.

Location: Onsite in Acton, Massachusetts, United States. Position dates: January 11, 2027–June 30, 2027. Up to 5% travel to local suppliers.

Annual base salary: $25.00–$34.00. Incentive compensation may also be available.

hirify.global is a medical device company developing the Omnipod platform for insulin delivery and other subcutaneous drug delivery applications.

What you will do

  • Work with manufacturing, process, design, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams on lifecycle and process improvement projects.
  • Use lab equipment such as Instron systems, pressure transducers, optical measurement equipment, and high-speed cameras for root cause analysis.
  • Design test procedures and 3D-printed fixtures, perform custom tests, and analyze data for tool qualifications and design enhancements.
  • Lead at least one root cause investigation or process improvement initiative.
  • Automate and standardize internal workflows using applicable software skills, including VBA.
  • Support engineering change orders, supplier qualification, manufacturing capacity improvements, and product design enhancements.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate mechanical, industrial, or bioengineering program.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Mechanical aptitude, hands-on approach, and strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis, CAD software, documentation, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to perform lab testing and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Previous manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with plastic injection molding, metal stamping, or automated assembly.
