Head of Data (Fintech)

Location: Tel Aviv, Israel; physically present and available as the standard for how the organization operates

hirify.global develops trade surveillance technology for traditional financial assets and crypto markets, helping financial institutions and regulators detect market manipulation, financial crime, and fraud.

What you will do

• Lead the Data organization across Data Infrastructure, Data Applications, and Data Adapters/Integration.
• Manage and develop Tech Leads and Staff Engineers, including technical direction, hiring plans, and career paths.
• Own architecture, detailed design, migrations, technical-debt reduction, and end-to-end data delivery.
• Guide ClickHouse, Kafka, Airflow, and Kubernetes-based pipelines processing billions of events across real-time and T+1 batch workloads.
• Personally review critical pull requests and lead debugging of high-severity production incidents.
• Partner with Product, Compliance, Customer Success, clients, and external vendors on integrations and data quality.

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend or data engineering experience, including 3+ years managing multiple teams or leading through Tech Leads and Staff Engineers.
• Hands-on experience reading and reviewing code, debugging production issues, and working deeply with system architecture.
• Experience with high-throughput, low-latency data systems, streaming, analytical stores, orchestration, and containerized microservices.
• Strong SQL and query optimization skills, with experience in schema versioning, data governance, and large-scale deduplication.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog, and ownership of operational SLAs.
• Experience in fintech, trading, crypto compliance/surveillance, third-party data integration, or vendor-facing technical relationships.

Nice to have

• Experience with Java, Kafka, ClickHouse, Snowflake, Apache Airflow, Kubernetes, Redis, AWS, and Prometheus/Grafana.
• Experience using AI coding tools and harnesses in a modern engineering workflow.
