Member of the Technical Staff, Financial Data Platform (Fintech)

Location: New York City or San Francisco, United States

Salary: $260,000–$360,000 base pay per year; compensation may be adjusted based on employee location and may include benefits, equity, and bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Design and implement a finance data platform supporting revenue recognition, consumption-based billing, financial reporting, and forecasting across batch and real-time workloads.
• Build real-time usage and billing pipelines using Kafka and streaming technologies.
• Partner with FP&A, Accounting, Revenue Operations, Security, Compliance, Legal, and Internal Audit to translate business and regulatory requirements into scalable systems.
• Define standards for financial data ingestion, transformation, storage, modeling, ETL, lineage, auditability, and data integrity using ClickHouse, Tinybird, and Snowflake.
• Drive architecture, roadmap planning, build-versus-buy decisions, monitoring, alerting, incident response, and high-availability practices.
• Write production-grade code, mentor engineers, and collaborate on forecasting, incrementality analysis, and revenue modeling.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related roles, including at least 2 years at Staff, Principal, or Lead Engineer level.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale data infrastructure in complex, fast-paced environments.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka and its ecosystem, ClickHouse, Tinybird, Snowflake, and broader big data frameworks.
• Experience building pipelines for financial reporting, revenue recognition, billing, or consumption-based pricing.
• Proficiency with AWS, GCP, or Azure and associated big data services.
• Experience with data governance, security, compliance, audit, SOX, or SOC 2 requirements, plus strong communication and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with NetSuite, Workday, ERP systems, or billing platforms.
• Industry recognition, published work, or open-source contributions in data engineering.
