TL;DR
Data Engineer (Crypto) (Python/SQL/Airflow): Building and operating ingestion and ELT pipelines, metadata systems, data-quality controls, and backend tools for crypto transaction and product data with an accent on reliability, traceability, and analytical accuracy. Focus on integrating unfamiliar data sources, investigating inconsistent numbers, maintaining production systems, and adding LLM/RAG capabilities to internal data tools.
Location: Singapore; onsite in a CBD office

What you will do
- Write and operate ingestion and ELT pipelines using Airflow or MWAA for transactions, product events, and third-party feeds.
- Bring new data sources into trusted, well-structured tables and maintain pipelines already running in production.
- Build data-quality checks, expose missing data, reconcile figures with independent sources, and investigate anomalies.
- Maintain the metadata repository and document datasets for analysts and AI systems.
- Develop backend and data layers for internal tools, including APIs, jobs, and metadata-driven services.
- Support analysts and stakeholders by handling data requests and turning recurring needs into self-service solutions.
Requirements
- 2–4 years of experience in data engineering, backend engineering, or platform engineering.
- Strong SQL and Python skills.
- Experience writing and operating pipelines with Airflow or a similar tool.
- Familiarity with cloud services, preferably AWS.
- Production ownership experience, including deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and understanding operational trade-offs and costs.
- Ability to work with existing code and live systems, deploy backend services, verify work, and communicate uncertainty clearly.
Nice to have
- Experience in financial services, fintech, crypto, or handling sensitive transaction data.
- Experience shipping internal tools or services such as APIs, jobs, and small applications.
- Knowledge of data-quality tooling such as Great Expectations, Soda, or dbt tests.
- Experience handling data that cannot be recovered, including streaming retention windows and APIs without historical data.
