Sr Director, Hardware Engineering (Networking Hardware)

Location: Sydney, NSW, Australia; candidates must have Australian citizenship, Australian permanent residency, or another demonstrable legal entitlement to work in Australia.

What you will do

• Lead multiple cross-functional teams designing and verifying Ethernet networking switches.
• Scale the Sydney hardware organization and manage hardware, firmware, signal integrity, diagnostics, and FPGA engineers.
• Establish Sydney hardware labs, including site requirements, equipment, power planning, and development and testing capabilities.
• Translate product direction into executable system designs and coordinate with product management, software, and central engineering leadership.
• Drive component vendor roadmaps, participate in schematic and board reviews, and guide resolution of complex hardware bring-up issues.
• Oversee manufacturing readiness, first-pass yield, prototype capacity, customer escalations, and product delivery from concept through production.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics.
• At least 4 years of management experience and 10+ years of relevant networking or systems hardware design experience.
• Experience leading hardware engineering teams across multiple simultaneous projects.
• Expertise in high-layer-count PCBs, high-speed design, Ethernet and related protocols, embedded x86/ARM systems, FPGA design, and gigabit-plus signaling.
• Experience with design for manufacturability, contract manufacturers, schematic design, CAD collaboration, regulatory compliance, and taking products from concept through production.
• Knowledge of signal integrity and power integrity concepts and tools, including differential routing, PDN, insertion loss, S-parameters, TDR, and VNA.
