Senior Mechanical Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England, UK; hybrid home/office working is available.

What you will do

• Design and develop mechanical products, complex assemblies, drawings, and models using approved CAD tools.
• Prepare technical documentation, define design intent, and deliver solutions within project schedule and budget requirements.
• Apply requirements, configuration and change management, security marking, and design-for-manufacture and design-for-test practices.
• Perform FEA analysis, support failure investigations, assess technical risks, and recommend engineering solutions.
• Design electrical wiring assemblies and contribute to electromechanical designs involving PCB assemblies, software, and systems activities.
• Lead small technical work packages and coordinate with operations, supply chain, customers, and other engineering functions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience, with significant post-qualification experience in complex engineering environments.
• Experience with mechanical PCB and enclosure design, including design considerations for EMI and EMC.
• Familiarity with aerospace materials, manufacturing methods, airworthiness, safety certification, DO-160, and other environmental requirements.
• Competence in CAD, FEA, technical drawings, geometric tolerancing, configuration management, and change management.
• Must be able to work in the UK without restrictions under UK National Law and successfully complete the required level of UK National Security Vetting.
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional engineering qualification is preferred.
