Software Engineer II, Frontend Agentic AI

Location: San Francisco, California, United States

Annual base salary: $140,000–$192,000 USD, plus equity where applicable, bonus, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build conversational interfaces for long-running autonomous agents, including streaming responses, tool calls, interruption controls, and mid-task steering.
• Design memory and context interfaces that let users inspect, edit, and delete agent memories.
• Build real-time agent run views showing plans, steps, artifacts, retries, and results through WebSockets or server-sent events.
• Create human-in-the-loop approval flows with clear previews of actions affecting external systems.
• Develop the Worker Builder interface and reusable component libraries for configuring digital workers and agentic patterns.
• Manage complex client state, streamed model output, reconnection, failure recovery, performance, and API integration with backend and agent engineers.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of relevant experience for this senior individual contributor role, with 3+ years of front-end engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in React, TypeScript, and modern state management, including hooks, context, and state machines.
• Production experience building chat, copilot, or other LLM-powered interfaces and integrating LLM APIs.
• Hands-on experience with real-time UIs, WebSockets, server-sent events, streaming rendering, and reconnection handling.
• Strong product sense, communication skills, and experience translating designs into fast, responsive production interfaces.
• Role location: San Francisco, California.

Nice to have

• Experience shipping chat or agent products used by thousands of users.
• Familiarity with LangChain, LangGraph, the Vercel AI SDK, or equivalent agent frameworks and AI front-end SDKs.
• Experience with design systems, accessibility standards, component library ownership, timelines, graphs, or workflow builders.
• Experience at a high-growth venture-backed AI or SaaS startup.
