Functional Consultant (AI)

Location: Tokyo, Japan; hybrid work with two days per week from home

What you will do

• Lead business requirements sessions with clients and document future-state processes using industry best practices.
• Collect and analyze sales, shipment, inventory, logistics, and other supply chain data from databases, spreadsheets, emails, and other sources.
• Translate business logic into functional and technical designs, configure the o9 platform, and build complex datasets.
• Apply statistical methods, optimization algorithms, simulations, predictive techniques, and ETL processes to create forecasts and operational plans.
• Design and execute workflow and data analytics test cases, track issues, and support automated testing and solution deployment.
• Coordinate with clients, architects, R&D, IT, and business stakeholders; deliver user training and mentor junior analysts.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related operations or analytics field.
• At least 3 years of experience presenting complex topics clearly and concisely.
• Required statistical, optimization, and simulation skills using tools such as R, SAS, CPLEX, or similar.
• Strong analytical, data mining, mathematics, statistics, presentation, demonstration, and training skills.
• Knowledge of Excel or Google Sheets, Word or Google Docs, PowerPoint, and business data processing is required.
• Native Mandarin and business-level English communication are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with planning systems and ERP tools.
• Experience leading supply chain planning solution implementations through requirements gathering, design, development, testing, go-live, and value realization.
• Experience with agile delivery of large-scale enterprise implementations.
• Knowledge of SQL Server, MySQL, SQL, MDX, T-SQL, or similar technologies.
