Technical Project Manager, Software (Aerospace)

Location: Hybrid in San Jose, California, with on-site work required three days per week. hirify.global is currently registered and able to hire in selected U.S. states. Access to export-controlled information requires U.S. person status, eligibility without export authorization, or eligibility and a reasonable likelihood of obtaining the required authorization.

Salary: $158,000–$180,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Define software program objectives, scope, milestones, and success criteria with engineering and product stakeholders.
• Build and maintain schedules, track dependencies, monitor progress, and adjust plans as priorities change.
• Identify risks and blockers, coordinate mitigation plans, and drive timely issue resolution.
• Coordinate deliverables and handoffs across software, hardware, science, and product teams.
• Provide concise updates on progress, risks, decisions, and changes to stakeholders and leadership.
• Coordinate software releases, readiness criteria, resource planning, and continuous process improvement.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience establishing and optimizing software project management processes.
• Strong technical background in software development methods, tools, and infrastructure.
• Experience leading cross-functional planning, scheduling, and risk management across multiple teams.
• Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders, alongside a focus on clarity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Must meet applicable U.S. export-control access requirements for controlled information.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, robotics, logistics, or other real-time, high-reliability software domains.
• Experience reviewing technical documentation, architecture proposals, or requirements specifications.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, OKR frameworks, or goal-setting practices.
• Experience working effectively in distributed team environments.
