Backend Engineer

Location: Remote in Europe

Compensation: United Kingdom £52K–£71K, Ireland €94K–€128K, or Poland PLN 303K–PLN 410K, depending on level, role, and location. Equity and bonus are offered.

What you will do

• Build and ship backend features for enterprise administrators and operators, from design through production rollout.
• Write database migrations and maintain schema compatibility during safe upgrades.
• Develop observability, reporting, audit, and security features for enterprise deployments.
• Investigate scalability bottlenecks, database access patterns, concurrency issues, and backend problems under production-like load.
• Document implementations, participate in code reviews and RFC-style design discussions, and join the on-call rotation.
• Collaborate with backend, platform, QA, product, and design partners to solve operator problems.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Professional experience writing and shipping Go, including goroutines, channels, and the sync package.
• Comfort with SQL, schema changes, and database migrations.
• Strong verbal and written communication, debugging ability, analytical thinking, and persistence with difficult technical problems.
• Experience with Go, Postgres, Kubernetes, and gRPC.
• Ability to work remotely from Europe.

Nice to have

• Experience investigating performance under real-world load and debugging race conditions.
• Experience with observability, audit, or security features in an enterprise product.
• Experience with major cloud providers, Kubernetes, container orchestration, or distributed systems at scale.
• Curiosity about modern developer tooling.
