What you will do

• Lead federal government relations across Congress, the executive branch, and relevant agencies.
• Drive defense advocacy involving authorization, appropriations, acquisition, DoD stakeholders, defense committees, and congressional offices.
• Lead Rhode Island government relations across the Governor’s Office, legislature, state agencies, and transportation stakeholders.
• Shape policy understanding and support for Seagliders by translating complex technology into clear policy narratives.
• Advise the CEO and senior leadership on government engagement, political capital, and high-stakes external meetings.
• Partner with Defense, Business Development, Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Legal, and leadership teams.

Requirements

• Current, established relationships across Congress and relevant executive branch agencies.
• Strong understanding of defense authorization, appropriations, acquisition, NDAA cycles, DoD budgets, and defense committee dynamics.
• Independent experience leading state government relations with governors’ offices, legislators, agencies, and economic development organizations.
• End-to-end government relations leadership, including strategy, stakeholder mapping, messaging, relationship building, and advocacy.
• Experience advocating for emerging technologies or industries that do not fit existing policy frameworks.
• Strong political judgment, executive advisory skills, collaboration, creative problem-solving, and adaptability.
