Software Engineer - Transmission Control (Embedded Controls)

Location: Milford, Michigan, United States; hybrid work with attendance at the designated location at least 3 times per week

What you will do

• Develop and refine embedded transmission control functions for shift execution, torque management, diagnostics, and feature performance.
• Translate system and algorithm requirements into software requirements, designs, implementation tasks, and verification activities.
• Design, implement, maintain, and integrate software using C, MATLAB, Simulink, and comparable embedded controls toolchains.
• Execute unit, software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, bench, and integration testing.
• Analyze controls and software issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with calibration, systems, integration, architecture, and platform teams while communicating technical risks and design decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 2 years of experience in embedded software, controls development, or software systems engineering.
• Experience with software control algorithms using C, MATLAB, Simulink, or comparable embedded controls tools.
• Understanding of transmission, propulsion, torque-management, driveline, or related vehicle controls in a hardware-software environment.
• Experience translating requirements into software design, implementation, verification, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
• Immigration sponsorship is not available, including H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, and J-1 support; the role requires existing U.S. work authorization.

Nice to have

• Experience with transmission or propulsion controls, performance-oriented vehicle control systems, calibration, and data logging.
• Familiarity with software architecture, diagnostics, functional safety, cybersecurity, software-defined vehicles, or multi-controller integration.
• Experience with Agile development, CI/CD, automated testing, or software verification on SIL, HIL, bench, or vehicle platforms.
• Familiarity with INCA, VSpy, and Vector tools.
