Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor (Data Center Construction)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, California, United States, with office attendance three days per week and monthly travel to project sites in Ohio for approximately 2–4 days.

Base salary: $110,000–$140,000 USD per year, plus potential bonuses and benefits.

What you will do

• Advise clients on procurement strategies, vendor prequalification, bids, bid leveling, interviews, and appointments.
• Develop and review construction, fee, direct work, and other project cost estimates.
• Prepare and present cost reports, forecasts, value engineering recommendations, risk assessments, and commercial risk registers.
• Manage payment applications, contractor entitlements, change orders, invoicing, and contractual dispute prevention and resolution.
• Lead final accounting, post-contract audits, account closeouts, handover procedures, and lessons-learned documentation.
• Use bid analysis sheets, change control forms, estimating software, and take-off software while benchmarking performance across projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related construction field.
• 3–5 years of relevant cost management experience in the construction industry.
• Experience with estimating, cost planning, cost reporting, change management, final accounts, and contractor procurement.
• Experience supporting medium- or large-scale construction projects, preferably mission-critical, industrial, commercial, advanced technology, manufacturing, healthcare, or other large building projects.
• Knowledge of procurement routes, value management, value engineering, and other construction industry technical matters.
• Strong communication skills; RICS accreditation or progress toward accreditation is valuable.
