Engineering Manager, Substation (Electrical Equipment)

Location: DFW01_02; requires 25%+ travel to project sites and vendor factories, including possible international travel.

What you will do

• Manage strategic purchasing, planning, and project management for owner-furnished equipment across data center substation projects.
• Coordinate engineering, procurement, technical program management, construction, and site teams.
• Manage equipment delivery from forecasting and planning through installation, commissioning, and turnover.
• Build vendor relationships and oversee production plans, logistics, submittals, factory acceptance tests, and field service scopes.
• Present purchasing strategies to senior leadership and support funding requests.
• Track project costs, schedules, documentation, purchase orders, change orders, and invoice reconciliation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience managing large projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong commercial skills in negotiation, planning, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, construction systems such as Procore or Helix, databases, financial systems, and scheduling tools.
• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to travel 25% or more to project sites and vendor factories; some international travel may be required.

Nice to have

• Experience with electrical equipment and substation construction.
• Knowledge of data center battery storage and primary power generation markets.
