Mechanical Engineering Internship (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Design and build space structures and thermal systems for satellite communication systems.
• Support product development, design, testing, and manufacturing of mechanical systems.
• Work on conduction-cooled packaging, deployable structures and mechanisms, and lightweight composite space structures.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers across project assignments based on project availability and candidate interests.
• Present engineering work to peers, mentors, and executive leadership.

Requirements

• Must be eligible under U.S. Government Space Technology Export Regulations as a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, conditional resident, asylee, refugee, or other protected individual, or be eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.
• Current enrollment in a BS, MS, or Ph.D. program in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering at an accredited university.
• GPA of 3.5 or higher.
• Upper-level undergraduate coursework in structures and heat transfer.
• Experience with mechanical FEA tools such as SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with electronics assemblies.
• Experience with EMI/EMC mitigation techniques.
• Experience with CNC manufacturing.
• Aerospace or automotive electronics design, development, and qualification experience.
