Summer 2027 Internship - Mechanical Engineering

Location: Denver, Colorado; full-time onsite for the 12-week internship

Salary: $25–$35 per hour — $25 for undergraduate interns, $30 for master's interns, and $35 for PhD interns.

hirify.global develops laser-driven inertial fusion energy systems and aims to deploy commercial fusion power plants for global decarbonization.

What you will do

• Support mechanical design and hardware development for laser-driven inertial fusion systems.
• Perform mechanical and thermal analysis using finite element analysis and CAD-based modeling.
• Contribute to systems engineering, manufacturing engineering, and control systems engineering.
• Work on computational engineering, software simulations, pulsed power, optical engineering, nuclear engineering, or plasma physics according to expertise and interests.
• Collaborate with an industry mentor on complex, real-world engineering challenges.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in a bachelor's, master's, or PhD program in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, nuclear engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience applying technical skills through projects, volunteering, laboratory research, or prior work or internship experience.
• Proficiency in CAD software for 3D modeling and simulation.
• Strong written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to work full-time onsite in Denver, Colorado, throughout the 12-week program.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted to the U.S. as a refugee or asylee.
