Maintenance Technician (Petrochemical)

Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Onsite work in a continuous 24/7 operating facility; overtime and participation in a rotating on-call schedule are required. Occasional travel to U.S. facilities may be required for training or operational support.

What you will do

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on pumps, compressors, turbines, valves, fans, journal bearings, and related plant equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, piping, and associated plant systems.
• Execute critical maintenance activities in accordance with Process Safety Management requirements.
• Coordinate contractors, vendors, and technical specialists and support turnaround planning, installation, commissioning, and equipment modifications.
• Maintain equipment records, maintenance history, investigation findings, and spare-parts information in SAP.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Reliability teams to improve plant availability and preventive maintenance programs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and trade or technical training, apprenticeship, or related mechanical education.
• Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Certificate (Red Seal).
• Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
• At least four years of industrial plant maintenance experience, preferably in petrochemical, chemical, oil and gas, manufacturing, power generation, or another process industry.
• Legally entitled to work in Canada; the role is safety-sensitive and requires successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, with possible ongoing testing.
• Willingness to work overtime and participate in a rotating on-call schedule in a 24/7 operating environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with compressors, multistage pumps, turbines, valves, fin fans, and other rotating equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting, fault isolation, and root cause analysis skills.
• Proficiency with SAP PM and Microsoft Office; CAD and mechanical drawing experience is an asset.
• Experience coordinating contractors and working with multidisciplinary teams.
