TL;DR
Team Lead - System Studies (Power Systems): Leading detailed electrical studies and developing technical standards for utility, transmission, distribution, renewable energy, and substation design projects with an accent on power system analysis, regulatory compliance, and engineering team development. Focus on establishing study methodologies, reviewing complex electrical studies, troubleshooting analysis software, and mentoring engineers across a growing technical practice.

Location: Fully remote within the United States or in-office in Lakewood, Colorado. Travel is typically 15–25%, and occasional field work, testing, and commissioning may be required.

Salary: $100,000–$160,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Lead and perform detailed electrical power system studies for utility and substation design projects.
  • Review studies and conduct QA/QC for design teams.
  • Establish study templates, methodologies, technical standards, and best practices.
  • Provide regulatory compliance support across design, testing, and commissioning phases.
  • Coach and mentor engineers while supporting team development and client communication.
  • Support electrical system design, troubleshooting, field testing, start-up, and commissioning as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology; an electric power focus is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of relevant engineering or field experience.
  • FE certification required; PE license preferred.
  • Experience with medium- and low-voltage distribution, switchgear, motor control centers, and industrial instrumentation and controls.
  • Experience with industry-standard power system analysis software such as PowerFactory, ETAP, SKM Power Tools, EasyPower, Aspen, WindMil, CAPE, CDEGS, WinIGS, PSS/E, PSLF, CYMCAP, or PSCAD.
  • Applicants must already be authorized to work full-time in the United States.
