Senior Commercial Counsel (AI/Automotive)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States

Salary: $160,000–$240,000 annual base pay, plus performance bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead commercial transactions from intake through post-signature management, including strategy development, negotiation, and agreement finalization.
• Draft and manage agreements covering vehicle systems and components, intellectual property, strategic partnerships, software and SaaS, professional services, goods and services, and confidentiality.
• Advise business and technical teams on legal and commercial risks, translating complex issues into practical recommendations.
• Support matters involving supply chain, business development, product, partnerships, privacy and security, marketing, real estate, and facilities.
• Launch a contract lifecycle management system with templates, playbooks, fallback positions, workflows, and process improvements.
• Train cross-functional teams and use automation and AI tools to improve contracting efficiency, consistency, and visibility.

Requirements

• 7+ years of legal experience in a technology company, top-tier law firm, or a combination of both.
• Significant experience independently handling complex commercial transactions.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Working knowledge of intellectual property, privacy, liability and risk allocation, and supply chain matters.
• Strong legal judgment, business acumen, research skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
• Admission to at least one state bar is required; California Bar membership is preferred.

• Experience in automotive, hardware, or transportation.
• Admission in additional jurisdictions.
• Experience using AI and other tools to improve legal workflows and operational efficiency.
