Sr. Legal Counsel, Privacy & Security (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States

Salary: $180,000–$200,000 per year, with potential additional compensation and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead customer negotiations and escalations involving privacy, data protection, information security, AI, HIPAA, and related legal requirements.
• Review and negotiate vendor agreements covering privacy, security, AI, HIPAA, data use, and specialized regulatory requirements.
• Partner with Procurement, Information Security, business owners, and Legal teams to assess risk and establish safeguards.
• Create and maintain customer and vendor DPAs, security standards, HIPAA agreements, AI terms, and related contract materials.
• Develop customer-facing privacy, data-use, security, and compliance documentation.
• Maintain internal policies, negotiation playbooks, and practical legal guidance for consistent decision-making.

Requirements

• Qualified attorney admitted to practice in one or more U.S. states, with an active state Bar membership and authorization to practice in the employing state.
• Seven or more years of in-house counsel experience, with substantial privacy, data protection, and information security negotiation experience in enterprise software transactions.
• Working knowledge of GDPR, U.S. state privacy laws, international data-transfer mechanisms, information security frameworks, HIPAA, and emerging AI regulation.
• Experience drafting and maintaining contract templates, playbooks, policies, public-facing privacy documentation, and internal controls.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, analytical, time-management, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• IAPP certification such as CIPP, CIPM, or AIGP.
• Law firm experience and experience with on-premises, SaaS, and hybrid software environments.
