Cloud Developer (SDN/Networking)

Location: Hybrid, with an expectation of working an average of two days per week from an HPE office in the United States

Salary: USD 111,500–211,500 annually in Colorado; USD 120,500–228,500 annually in Massachusetts; USD 106,000–243,000 annually in Texas. Variable incentives may also be offered.

What you will do

• Design and develop Data Plane features for Software Defined Networking solutions serving large enterprise customers.
• Debug and resolve software issues in highly scalable, performance-intensive deployments.
• Collaborate with Configuration and Control Path engineering teams to ensure seamless integration.
• Optimize SDN performance in distributed, cloud-based software architectures.
• Analyze complex networking failures, including crashes, packet loss, memory leaks, memory corruption, and scaling issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• At least 4 years of experience developing features and fixing bugs in complex networking products.
• Strong C/C++ programming, systems programming, software design, and debugging skills.
• Knowledge of Layer 2 technologies including EVPN, VLAN, and VXLAN, and Layer 3 technologies including eBGP, iBGP, MP-BGP, and MPLS.
• Experience with routing, Kernel and DPDK forwarding planes, MPLSoUDP, MPLSoGRE, VXLAN, XMPP, BGP, iBGP, NetConf, and eBPF.
• Experience debugging multi-process and multi-threaded systems; Kubernetes deployment experience and knowledge of enterprise cloud network architecture are advantageous.
