Software Development Engineer II, CloudWatch Collectors

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain highly available, massively scaled systems used by millions of users.
• Build and operate CloudWatch telemetry collection agents for metrics, logs, and traces using Rust and Go.
• Engage with upstream open-source communities and contribute to projects such as OpenTelemetry.
• Expand services across AWS Regions and investigate root causes when production issues arise.
• Use GenAI and AI-powered development tools to improve engineering productivity.
• Mentor junior engineers and help grow the team's technical capability.

Requirements

• Professional software development experience outside internships.
• Experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
• Strong programming skills in at least two of Rust, Go, Java, C++, or Python.
• Ability to work effectively in an agile, diverse engineering team.
• Experience with the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or an equivalent qualification.
• Open-source contributions or an open-source portfolio, including work with OpenTelemetry.
