Underwriting Team Lead (Property Insurance)

Location: Dallas, Texas, United States; primarily in the office

Base salary range stated for positions based in Illinois: $120,000–$150,000 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus.

What you will do

• Underwrite commercial E&S property risks across primary, shared, layered, and excess structures.
• Maintain and profitably grow the E&S portfolio across desired business segments.
• Review and negotiate manuscript forms, policy wordings, and coverages.
• Lead, coach, mentor, and develop underwriters within the zone.
• Partner with regional leadership, internal colleagues, and wholesale trading partners.
• Support portfolio management, talent development, and regional business objectives.

Requirements

• At least five years of commercial E&S underwriting experience.
• Experience underwriting a broad range of E&S risks while maintaining a balanced portfolio.
• Established relationships with wholesale brokerage partners in the territory.
• Previous team leadership, coaching, or mentoring experience.
• Strong knowledge of CAT modeling, including OEP/AEP, TvAR, AAL, and catastrophic technical premiums.
• Clear understanding of ISO form usage and the ability to balance underwriting discipline with growth objectives.
