Associate Engineer, Network Operations (Juniper)

Location: Global Home Office in Columbus, Ohio, United States. The role includes participation in an on-call rotation. Work-from-anywhere days are available for most roles on Mondays and Fridays, plus six work-from-anywhere weeks per year.

What you will do

• Monitor enterprise network health and performance across Juniper platforms, wireless services, firewalls, WAN circuits, and related infrastructure.
• Perform initial incident triage by reviewing logs and monitoring data, validating symptoms, and escalating issues to engineering teams, carriers, or vendors.
• Troubleshoot connectivity, latency, packet loss, routing, switching, wireless, DNS, DHCP, VPN, NAT, and firewall issues.
• Support incident and problem management by documenting timelines, findings, corrective actions, and follow-up items.
• Assist with network equipment maintenance, lifecycle activities, software and firmware updates, and approved change validation.
• Maintain the local QA environment and network documentation, identify recurring issues and monitoring gaps, and collaborate on service restoration.

Requirements

• Four-year degree in an IT-related field or equivalent work history.
• At least two years of experience in IT operations, network support, infrastructure support, service desk escalation, or a related technical support environment.
• Foundational knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, wireless, DNS, DHCP, VPN, NAT, firewall fundamentals, and Juniper Junos OS.
• Experience with ping, traceroute, nslookup, packet capture tools, log review, monitoring dashboards, Junos CLI, Juniper Mist dashboards, Service Level Expectations, and Marvis insights.
• Familiarity with Juniper EX switches, SRX firewalls and gateways, Mist wireless access points, Mist AI, Marvis Virtual Network Assistant, routers, load balancers, WAN circuits, and cloud connectivity.
• Strong communication, prioritization, incident response, and collaboration skills in a fast-paced operational environment.
