Marine Product Designer Engineer (USV)

Location: Onsite in West Palm Beach, Florida, United States. This role involves working across the CAD workstation, production floor, vessels, and waterfront, including dockside and on-water testing.

What you will do

• Develop detailed 3D CAD models, production drawings, vessel arrangements, machinery layouts, structural layouts, and equipment installations.
• Design composite parts and tooling with a strong focus on design for manufacturability.
• Integrate propulsion, fuel, steering, electrical, sensor, antenna, communications, and mission-payload systems.
• Collaborate with autonomy, electrical, mechanical, systems, fabrication, assembly, integration, and testing teams.
• Create bills of materials and maintain engineering documentation, configuration control, drawing releases, and engineering changes.
• Support prototype fabrication, troubleshooting, field testing, supplier selection, and rapid development of new USV variants.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in marine design, boatbuilding, naval architecture, mechanical design, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency with Rhino and SolidWorks 3D CAD software and detailed manufacturing and fabrication drawings.
• Practical understanding of composite boat construction, marine machinery, vessel systems, tolerancing, materials, fasteners, and fabrication methods.
• Ability to move designs independently from concept through production and evaluate materials, manufacturing methods, and system integration approaches.
• Willingness to work directly on vessels during prototype builds, integration, and testing, including physical work in industrial environments.
• U.S. persons only; candidates must provide proof of U.S. citizenship or permanent residence and must not require sponsorship for export-restricted work authorization.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-speed composite vessels, military or government vessels, USVs, small craft, or patrol boats.
• Knowledge of marine propulsion, diesel engines, waterjets, fuel systems, composite structures, autonomous vehicles, or CNC production.
• Experience integrating electrical and electronic systems, sensors, radar, EO/IR, communications, antennas, or SolidWorks PDM.
