Mechanical Engineer (Aerospace): Designing, analyzing, testing, and supporting production of mechanical hardware and solid rocket propulsion systems with an accent on 3D CAD, structural and thermal analysis, GD&T, and aerospace qualification testing. Focus on integrating reliable, producible hardware, resolving manufacturing issues, and supporting root-cause investigations across aerospace and defense programs.

Location: Hybrid or remote from the United States; office locations in Folsom, Reno, Long Beach, or Huntsville. Relocation assistance may be provided.

Salary: $97,000–$199,000 USD annually. California range: $103,000–$199,000; Nevada range: $97,000–$189,000.

What you will do

  • Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, structures, tooling, and propulsion hardware from concept through production.
  • Create 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and technical documentation.
  • Perform structural, thermal, stress, fatigue, fracture, tolerance, vibration, and load-path analyses.
  • Support hardware integration, qualification, acceptance, environmental testing, test-data review, and root-cause investigations.
  • Collaborate with propulsion, systems, manufacturing, quality, materials, test, and program teams to deliver producible and compliant designs.
  • Resolve production issues, evaluate nonconformances, provide engineering dispositions, and implement design improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 4 years of relevant experience, master’s degree with 2 years of relevant experience, or 8 years of relevant engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 4–10 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, aerospace, defense, propulsion, manufacturing, or a related discipline.
  • Experience designing mechanical hardware, structures, components, assemblies, tooling, or test equipment in a complex engineering environment.
  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling, engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering documentation.
  • Experience supporting hardware development, integration, testing, manufacturing, or production troubleshooting in a high-reliability environment.
  • Must be a U.S. Person and eligible to obtain required export authorizations; certain assignments may require eligibility for a U.S. Security Clearance.

Nice to have

  • Experience with solid rocket motors, motor cases, nozzles, igniters, insulation, interfaces, or ground and test equipment.
  • Experience with aerospace or defense standards and tools such as FEA, ANSYS, MATLAB, or tolerance-analysis software.
