Histotechnician, 2nd Shift (Mon - Fri) (Molecular Diagnostics)

Location: Fremont, California, United States; onsite, Monday–Friday, 2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m.

Salary: $40.00–$50.00 per hour, plus eligible shift differential

What you will do

• Process FFPE specimens for microscopic evaluation and molecular diagnostics testing.
• Section tissue with a microtome and mount sections on glass slides.
• Perform automated and manual tissue staining, coverslipping, macrodissection, and digital slide imaging.
• Operate laboratory instruments and perform routine maintenance.
• Record specimen data in documentation systems and laboratory information management systems.
• Maintain safety, quality, cleanliness, productivity, and turnaround-time standards while escalating problems to supervisors.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in chemical, physical, or biological science, or completion of a NAACLS-accredited Histotechnology program; a bachelor’s degree in laboratory science is preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience in a high-volume histology laboratory, including microtomy of various tissue types, H&E staining, and tissue embedding.
• HT or HTL certification from ASCP.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to perform physical duties including stooping, turning, bending, squatting, kneeling, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

Nice to have

• Experience with IHC, digital imaging, tissue or tumor identification, and reading pathology reports.
