Associate Utility Designer (Hybrid Schedule)

Location: Berlin, Connecticut, United States; hybrid schedule. Travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire is required, with field visits and emergency restoration assignments as needed.

Salary: $76,380–$84,870 annually, plus potential incentive.

What you will do

• Develop detailed engineering designs, conceptual layouts, sketches, and final design packages for substation projects.
• Prepare electrical drawings, technical calculations, bills of materials, and supporting project documentation.
• Conduct field visits to verify site conditions, resolve design issues, and confirm as-built documentation.
• Coordinate with engineers, construction personnel, design disciplines, and outside vendors.
• Guide design drafters and review vendor projects and design changes.
• Support engineering license submittals, construction needs, department standards, and emergency restoration work.

Requirements

• Associate of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
• Zero to two years of related utility design, wiring, or technical experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, and schematics.
• Ability to apply design and drafting standards, industry codes, basic electrical theory, technical mathematics, and basic science.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license and availability to travel between MA, CT, and NH.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Bluebeam.
• Experience preparing utility design documentation.
