Hardware Engineer (Advanced Co-Packaged Optics)

Location: San Jose, California, USA; onsite at 1320 Ridder Park Drive

Annual base salary: USD 143,800–230,000, plus a discretionary annual bonus and equity awards.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end development of advanced co-packaged optics products from architecture through mass production.
• Define product architecture, subsystem interfaces, and tradeoffs across optical, mechanical, firmware, PCB, and software functions.
• Guide photonic and electronic IC design, optical engine packaging, substrate and PCB development, and fiber alignment.
• Coordinate cross-functional R&D teams and lead schematic capture, circuit simulation, SI/PI analysis, layout collaboration, and mechanical integration.
• Oversee prototype bring-up, system-level troubleshooting, validation testing, pilot builds, and production transfer.
• Define ATE software requirements and manufacturing test and tuning algorithms while supporting customers with complex field issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or sciences with 12+ years of related experience, or a master's degree with 10+ years, or a Ph.D. with 7 years.
• Experience leading cross-functional hardware, photonics, electronics, mechanical, firmware, and software development.
• Expertise in photonic and electronic IC design, optical engine packaging, PCB and substrate development, and hardware validation.
• Experience with schematic capture, circuit simulation, signal integrity, power integrity, layout collaboration, and mechanical integration.
• Ability to work onsite in San Jose, California, USA.
