Principal Optical Product Engineer (Silicon Photonics)

Salary: $136,880–$205,000 per annum, plus bonus and equity plans

What you will do

• Own NPI and product engineering for optical modules and silicon photonics light engines, including NPO and CPO products.
• Work with design, marketing, supply chain, quality, OSATs and contract manufacturers to develop end-to-end manufacturing and test solutions.
• Define, validate and release production flows and specifications through prototype and pilot builds.
• Drive DFM and PFMEA feedback, BOM release, production bring-up, yield improvement and troubleshooting.
• Partner with quality teams on reliability de-risking and qualification.
• Sustain production with offshore manufacturing teams and contract manufacturers after production release.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, photonics, optical engineering or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• At least 10 years of industry experience in product engineering or product development for volume production.
• Experience with silicon photonics, optical transceiver modules or related subassemblies.
• Strong opto-electrical testing and troubleshooting experience.
• Familiarity with wire bonding, die attach, wafer packaging and active optical alignment.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
