Salary: $110,000–$177,000 per year, depending on level, education, experience, and skills.

What you will do

  • Develop, maintain, validate, and quality-assure transmission system models for planning, operational, reliability, and compliance studies.
  • Model transmission lines, transformers, generators, breakers, ratings, topology, impedance, and configurations across medium-, high-, and extra-high-voltage facilities.
  • Build future network models incorporating load growth, generation additions and retirements, transmission upgrades, reconfigurations, and planned projects.
  • Coordinate with planning, operations, engineering, project management, PJM, neighboring transmission owners, and interconnecting entities.
  • Support PJM baseline, near-term, and long-term model development, submissions, reviews, and data requests.
  • Resolve data discrepancies, support NERC compliance activities, and improve modeling processes, documentation, training, and knowledge transfer.

Requirements

  • Relevant engineering experience with a bachelor's, master's, or PhD in engineering or engineering technology; degree and experience requirements vary by level.
  • Senior level: typically 4+ years of related engineering experience with a bachelor's degree, or 2+ years with a master's degree or PhD.
  • Principal level: typically 8+ years of related engineering experience with a bachelor's degree, or 6+ years with a master's degree or PhD.
  • Staff level: typically 10+ years of related engineering experience with a bachelor's degree, or 8+ years with a master's degree or PhD.
  • Experience with transmission planning models and tools such as PSS-ODMS, Siemens PSS/E, ASPEN OneLiner, TARA, or similar systems.
  • Ability to analyze technical data, resolve discrepancies, manage multiple assignments, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.

Nice to have

  • Professional Engineer registration in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico.
  • Experience with power flow, short-circuit, stability, or reliability assessments.
  • Knowledge of inverter-based resources, solar and wind generation, synchronous generation, PJM processes, and NERC Reliability Standards.
