Transmission Construction Manager (Transmission)

Location: On site in Salem, Virginia or Charleston, West Virginia; travel up to 35% required.

Salary: $136,539–$177,503 per year.

What you will do

• Lead the Regional Construction Management team across multiple transmission construction projects.
• Direct planning, scheduling, staffing, execution, monitoring, reporting, and closeout for projects with portfolios valued at $500 million to $1 billion or more.
• Coordinate with project management, transmission engineering, operating companies, contractors, suppliers, vendors, and government agencies.
• Drive safety, quality assurance, environmental compliance, constructability, cost control, and adherence to specifications, drawings, and permits.
• Develop capital plans, assess project risks, support contractor selection, and improve schedules, systems, procedures, and costs.
• Support storm restoration efforts, emergency response, and the development of AEP and contract personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field, or an Associate's degree with equivalent experience.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree, or 10 years with an associate's degree, including major construction projects, project management, transmission engineering, or transmission operations.
• Strong leadership, team-building, communication, delegation, conflict-resolution, strategic planning, and decision-making skills.
• Working knowledge of engineering and design, procurement, contracting, estimating, construction, startup procedures, and project management techniques.
• Ability to manage scope, risk, resources, schedules, deliverables, compliance obligations, and contractor performance.
• Willingness to work on site in Salem, Virginia or Charleston, West Virginia and travel up to 35%.

Nice to have

• 3–5 years of experience as a Transmission Construction Superintendent, Project Manager, or related supervisor.
• Experience as a Site Construction Manager or in an equivalent role overseeing large projects.
