Procurement & Contracts Lead

Location: DC-Washington-TWP Headquarters; on-site five days a week

Salary: $105,600–$176,000 annual, with potential bonus or incentive eligibility

What you will do

• Lead strategic sourcing and category-management activities across high-value categories including content and wire services, production, technology, contingent labor, and freelance services.
• Manage competitive sourcing processes, including requirements development, market analysis, supplier evaluation, recommendations, and negotiations.
• Negotiate new agreements, renewals, amendments, and extensions while balancing pricing, service levels, contractual protections, risk, and business requirements.
• Use spend data, market intelligence, benchmarking, and total-cost-of-ownership analysis to quantify savings, cost avoidance, and business value.
• Partner with Finance, Legal, IT, Information Security, Privacy, and business stakeholders on vendor decisions, contract risks, and governance.
• Build procurement capabilities through reusable templates, negotiation tools, process improvements, contract data practices, and ERP transformation support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, procurement, supply chain, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least five years of progressively responsible experience in strategic sourcing, category management, vendor negotiation, procurement, or contract management.
• Demonstrated experience leading vendor negotiations and developing commercial terms that balance cost, risk, service quality, and business requirements.
• Knowledge of total-cost-of-ownership analysis, market benchmarking, competitive sourcing, and supplier evaluation.
• Experience partnering with Legal on contract review, redlines, negotiation strategy, and risk mitigation.
• Strong communication, organization, business judgment, and cross-functional influencing skills, including the ability to manage multiple sourcing events and renewal deadlines.

Nice to have

• Experience sourcing media, content, wire services, technology, production, contingent labor, or freelance services.
• Experience in media, digital publishing, technology, or another rapidly changing business environment.
• Familiarity with procurement, sourcing, contract-lifecycle-management, spend-analysis, or market-intelligence platforms.
• CPSM, CIPS, CPM, or equivalent procurement certification.
• Experience supporting procurement-process or ERP transformation.
