Senior General Liability and Medical Malpractice Adjuster

Location: Remote; candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence for collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership. The role is associated with Sacramento, California, and handles claims across all 50 states.

Salary: $95,000–$125,000 base compensation annually.

What you will do

• Investigate, evaluate, and resolve complex commercial, professional, auto liability, and medical malpractice claims.
• Assess coverage, liability, causation, damages, medical treatment, reserves, and overall claim exposure.
• Manage healthcare liability claims involving facilities and providers under primary and excess policies across all 50 states.
• Coordinate litigation with attorneys, prepare for client meetings, communicate claim status, and negotiate settlements.
• Identify, investigate, and pursue subrogation and excess claim recoveries.
• Mentor less experienced adjusters and support client education, development, and problem solving.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of experience handling professional liability, medical malpractice, auto or general liability claims, personal lines, or an equivalent combination.
• Active multi-state adjuster licenses are required.
• Working knowledge of medical malpractice insurance principles, liability claims handling, litigation, and state-specific regulations.
• Strong analytical, organizational, documentation, communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and time-management skills.
• Ability to evaluate complex claims, calculate figures and percentages, interpret legal and medical documents, and manage a client caseload.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required; Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook experience is required.

• Commercial General Liability insurance knowledge.
• Experience with school, educational system, or public entity claims.
• Experience with structured settlements and litigation processes.
