Complex Loss Specialist (Healthcare Liability)

What you will do

• Adjust complex, high-exposure claims requiring advanced technical expertise, analysis, and negotiation.
• Investigate losses by securing statements and reviewing medical records, contracts, incident reports, estimates, photographs, correspondence, and expert reports.
• Analyze policy coverage, document coverage dates, limits, exclusions, and endorsements, and draft reservation of rights and denial communications for review.
• Evaluate liability, set or recommend reserves, exercise settlement authority, and escalate claims exceeding authority.
• Assign and direct defense counsel, independent adjusters, medical examiners, and expert witnesses.
• Prepare claim reports and roundtable summaries, provide file updates, and present resolution strategies to senior and program executives.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of claims experience with an emphasis on complex claims.
• At least 10 years of litigation management experience preferred.
• College degree or equivalent claims management experience.
• Active individual adjuster’s license under the candidate’s name, with a designated home state license; willingness to obtain additional required licenses.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to communicate clearly with leadership, colleagues, clients, carriers, underwriters, agents, insureds, and claimants.
