Counsel - Affirmative Litigation (Healthcare)

Location: Remote nationwide within the United States; occasional travel to company offices for training or meetings may be required.

Salary: $138,900–$191,000 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Evaluate recovery referrals for legal merit, damages, collectability, and cost-benefit viability.
• Manage recovery matters from intake through demands, negotiation, litigation, arbitration, settlement, and resolution.
• Handle subrogation, mass tort claims, product recall, restitution, provider and pharmacy, breach of contract, and fraud recoveries.
• Direct outside counsel and vendors, including litigation strategy, work product, budgets, and performance.
• Partner with business leaders, investigators, and law department colleagues to identify recovery opportunities.
• Communicate case strategy, status, and outcomes to internal stakeholders.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active license and membership in a state bar association.
• At least 5 years of litigation experience, including case management from intake through resolution.
• Ability to organize and manage a significant caseload with multiple simultaneous matters.
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex legal issues to varied stakeholders.
• Remote work requires a dedicated space protecting member PHI/HIPAA information and internet service with at least 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds.

Nice to have

• Experience with healthcare payer recoveries, Medicare Advantage, or managed care litigation.
• Understanding of e-discovery and large-scale discovery.
