Counsel, Regulatory Compliance (Healthcare)

Location: Remote and based in San Diego, California, with occasional in-office work. Domestic travel and attendance at local conferences or meetings may be required.

Salary: $124,353–$223,838 annually, with a stated pay scale of $124,353, $174,096, and $223,838.

What you will do

• Monitor and interpret state and federal healthcare laws, regulations, licensing requirements, guidance, and enforcement initiatives.
• Oversee regulatory examinations, market conduct reviews, audits, and governmental inquiries, including response strategies and submissions.
• Advise business leaders, executives, clients, and compliance stakeholders on regulatory obligations, risks, and corrective actions.
• Develop regulatory communications, guidance documents, policies, procedures, and implementation recommendations.
• Lead initiatives addressing emerging regulatory trends across Medicare, Medicaid, Marketplace, and commercial lines of business.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Privacy, and operational teams on enterprise-wide compliance strategies and governance materials.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate required.
• BS/BA and 5+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 2 years of subject-matter expertise in the relevant regulatory areas.
• Strong knowledge of state and federal regulatory requirements, licensing obligations, and enacted legislation.
• Ability to interpret and communicate complex regulatory information clearly and advise diverse stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, verbal, organizational, and collaboration skills.
