TL;DR
Mechanical Systems Engineer (Aerospace): Developing and verifying hydraulic and electromechanical actuation systems for military aircraft with an accent on requirements engineering, system integration, testing, and qualification. Focus on translating system needs into traceable requirements, executing verification plans, and solving complex troubleshooting and root-cause challenges across the product development lifecycle.

Location: Hybrid in Torrance, California, United States; 9/80 work schedule with approximately 5–15% travel to company and customer locations, primarily within the United States.

Salary: $90,000–$135,000 annually.

What you will do

  • Support the development, integration, and verification of hydraulic and electromechanical actuation systems.
  • Translate customer and system needs into clear, traceable engineering requirements.
  • Develop verification strategies, requirements traceability documentation, and qualification plans.
  • Create and execute test plans and procedures, analyze results, and prepare technical reports and presentations.
  • Support system integration, troubleshooting, root-cause investigations, and technical discussions with internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams across hirify.global sites throughout the product development lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another STEM discipline.
  • At least three years of engineering experience.
  • Experience with one or more product development phases, including requirements development, system design, integration, testing, verification, or validation.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Access to U.S. export-controlled information is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with aerospace actuation, flight control, or other complex aerospace systems.
  • Familiarity with DOORS, Cameo, and other requirements management or systems engineering tools.
  • Experience with safety-critical or mission-critical systems.
  • Hands-on experience testing hydraulic or electromechanical systems.
  • Experience supporting new product development in the aerospace or defense industry.
