Director of Finance (Semiconductor)

Location: Austin, TX; Pittsburgh, PA; San Jose, CA; or Tucson, AZ

Salary: $160,000–$240,000 base salary, plus a 10% annual bonus, equity, and benefits

What you will do

• Own finance and accounting end to end as the first dedicated finance hire.
• Run a predictable month-end close with outsourced bookkeepers, external CPAs, auditors, and counsel.
• Own the operating model, annual budget, rolling forecast, departmental budgeting, and variance analysis.
• Forecast cash and manage treasury, banking, insurance, capital commitments, and future financing support.
• Build scalable finance systems, controls, approval flows, documentation, and audit readiness.
• Prepare board and investor reporting and support equity administration, 409A refreshes, and cap table work.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in finance and accounting, including ownership of both a close and a forecast.
• Experience in a capital-intensive business with significant commitments before revenue.
• Experience in a fast-moving startup, ideally as an early or first finance hire.
• Track record of maturing a finance function while maintaining operational speed.
• Clear communication with engineers, executives, department heads, and board members.
• Hands-on approach and willingness to perform the work directly while the function develops.

Nice to have

• CPA qualification.
• Semiconductor or hardware experience.
• Experience leading a company's first audit.
• Experience implementing durable finance systems.
• Experience preparing a company for IPO or acquisition reporting requirements.
