Engineer

Location: hirify.global Okanagan Campus, Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada; onsite campus role with flexible or rotational shifts, possible weekends, and on-call responsibilities.

Salary: CAD 5,713.00–6,545.00 per month. An additional CAD 1 per hour is available for a Red Seal or Power Engineer Class 4 Certificate.

What you will do

• Operate and maintain boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, air and vacuum compressors, HVAC systems, geo-exchange systems, district energy systems, and related infrastructure.
• Inspect mechanical rooms and boiler systems, review shift log books, identify abnormalities, and follow required safety procedures.
• Monitor water quality, building automation systems, space temperatures, utility data, and work order status.
• Respond to urgent campus incidents including fire alarms, floods, leaks, and power disruptions.
• Perform preventive maintenance, fire hydrant flushing and testing, fire sprinkler tests, backflow testing, and campus-wide system flushing.
• Maintain records, manage tool and supply inventories, purchase supplies, and complete monthly purchasing-card reconciliations.

Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent plus trades training in Power Engineering to journeyman status, preferably with a 4th Class Power Engineer certificate.
• More than 6 years of progressive related experience.
• Valid Class 5 driver's licence.
• Ability to perform strenuous physical work, lift up to 50 lb frequently, work at heights and in confined or noisy areas, and work in extreme climate conditions.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools, follow lockout and other safety procedures, and work flexible or rotational shifts, weekends, and on-call periods.
• Basic skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, along with strong communication, analytical, customer-service, and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

• Cross-connection control certification.
• Experience in refrigeration, HVAC repair, gas fitting, or building automation systems.
