Field Service Engineer - Canada (Industrial Automation)

Location: Canada, Ontario, Mississauga; remote/field-based with regional and national travel across Canada and occasional travel to the United States

What you will do

• Commission, integrate, align, level, and configure automated CNC cutting systems at customer facilities.
• Diagnose electromechanical, electronic, pneumatic, drive, software, CNC, PLC, and industrial fieldbus issues.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, motion calibration, component rebuilds, and emergency repairs.
• Optimize cutting processes, plasma and torch systems, consumables, and equipment uptime.
• Train customer maintenance technicians, CNC programmers, and operators on safe operation and preventive care.
• Document failure modes, corrective actions, spare-parts recommendations, and reliability improvements in Field Service Reports.

Requirements

• College Diploma or Advanced Diploma in electrical/electronic engineering technology, mechatronics, industrial automation, electromechanical or mechanical engineering technology, or an equivalent trade qualification.
• 2–5+ years of hands-on experience in industrial field service, machine tool repair, robotics, or automated manufacturing systems.
• Ability to interpret electrical, ladder logic, hydraulic/pneumatic, and mechanical schematics.
• Knowledge of Canadian industrial safety requirements, WHMIS, Lockout/Tagout, CSA Z462, and NFPA 70E arc-flash awareness.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (23 kg), climb ladders, work around gantry machinery, and stand or walk for extended periods.
• Valid Canadian driver’s license and clean driving record; valid Canadian passport or eligibility to obtain one for occasional U.S. travel.

Nice to have

• Experience with thermal cutting technologies, CNC motion platforms, or automated manufacturing equipment.
• Familiarity with CNC nesting software, CAD/CAM formats, and remote diagnostic tools.
• English and French bilingual proficiency; Spanish is also valued.
