Junior Electrical Engineer (Electrical Systems)

Location: Hybrid in Merritt Island, Florida, or Bethesda, Maryland; up to 25% travel.

Salary: $70,000–$80,000 USD per year in Merritt Island or $90,000–$100,000 USD per year in Bethesda, plus performance-based bonuses.

What you will do

• Support electrical engineering projects from concept design through implementation and testing.
• Design lighting, medium- and low-voltage power distribution, fire alarm, life safety, lightning protection, emergency power, and lighting control systems.
• Perform arc flash, short-circuit, load-flow, and related electrical studies, including mitigation recommendations.
• Prepare design documentation, specifications, test plans, cost analyses, material take-offs, and project progress reports.
• Support construction administration, field activities, facility condition assessments, and capital asset management planning.
• Collaborate with customers, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams while supporting quality control, mentoring, and process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Up to five years of professional electrical engineering experience.
• Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, ANSI, and UFC codes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and experience with CAD, Revit, Bluebeam Revu, or other electrical system modeling and drafting software.
• Valid and unrestricted Florida driver’s license required.
• U.S. citizenship required for security clearance; active or interim Secret clearance, or the ability to obtain one.

Nice to have

• EIT certification.
• Knowledge of FBC, ASME, AFMAN, or SSMAN requirements.
