Resident Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Novi, Michigan, USA; on-site office work required with up to 20% domestic travel.

Salary: $125,250–$183,700 per year, with possible additional bonus or commission compensation.

What you will do

• Lead system-level hardware and software testing for automotive compute unit platforms.
• Direct resident engineering activities globally and represent projects in customer engagements.
• Develop test strategies, plans, designs, and cases for functional, non-functional, exploratory, regression, endurance, bench, and vehicle testing.
• Analyze, verify, track, and report software defects using supporting logs, data, and issue-tracking systems.
• Manage project risks, status reporting, customer requirements, escalations, and cross-functional synchronization.
• Set up and maintain test benches, vehicle modules, wiring, instrumentation, and test vehicles.

Requirements

• 8+ years of product engineering or hardware test engineering experience in an embedded environment.
• 2+ years of project leadership or project management experience with responsibility for directing teams.
• 5+ years of functional and non-functional software testing experience, including test life-cycle and test design methodologies.
• 5+ years of vehicle networking experience with CAN and MOST.
• 3+ years of experience with hardware-in-the-loop, bug tracking tools, configuration management tools such as Perforce, and office productivity software.
• Ability to work in the Novi, Michigan office, travel domestically up to 20%, pass a background investigation and drug screen, and maintain an acceptable driving record.
