Senior AI Solutions Engineer

Location: On-site in San Diego, CA, with at least 5 days in the office. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and able to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Salary: $135,000–$273,000 per year. Additional disclosed pay ranges are $135,000–$231,000 and $164,000–$273,000, depending on experience, skills, and education; bonuses, commissions, tips, and benefits are excluded.

What you will do

• Apply AI technologies to improve productivity, decision-making, and automation across engineering and business functions.
• Research, evaluate, and rapidly prototype AI tools, frameworks, platforms, and emerging technologies.
• Implement and integrate practical AI-enabled solutions into existing workflows, systems, development processes, and operational environments.
• Collaborate with engineering, security, program management, compliance, and business stakeholders to define problems and deliver usable, reliable, and maintainable solutions.
• Support AI adoption through guidance, demonstrations, knowledge sharing, and recommendations on emerging platforms and best practices.
• Ensure AI solutions meet security, compliance, policy, and regulatory requirements in sensitive and classified environments, while refining adoption strategies as needs evolve.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software or technical experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
• Strong understanding and practical experience applying modern AI technologies, particularly large language models, generative AI tools, and AI-assisted development workflows.
• Ability to lead the design and implementation of technical solutions using AI to improve productivity, automation, or decision-making.
• Ability to rapidly prototype and evaluate technologies for organizational value.
• Understanding of secure software development practices and AI-specific security considerations, including work in environments with strong security and compliance controls.
• Strong problem-solving, requirements-definition, scoping, delivery, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to balance innovation with security, compliance, and operational constraints.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Naval tactical systems such as Aegis, SSDS, SLQ-32, or similar systems.
• Familiarity with MLOps, including model lifecycle management, monitoring, and CI/CD integration.
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into DevSecOps or CI/CD pipelines and deploying AI-enabled tools or applications into production.
• Experience with generative AI, large language models, or natural language processing tools.
• Knowledge of NIST 800-53, DISA STIGs, Risk Management Framework processes, or other AI compliance frameworks.
• Experience in defense, government, or other mission-critical domains.
• Experience evaluating emerging technologies, guiding organizational adoption, and managing change in established workflows.
• Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
