Senior UX Designer (AI)

Location: San Diego, California, United States; candidates may be located throughout the Greater San Diego and Los Angeles area

A medical technology company operating an independent diagnostic testing facility that supports at-home sleep apnea, cardiac arrhythmia, and hypoxemia testing.

What you will do

• Lead UX from problem framing through discovery, workflow mapping, prototyping, validation, detailed design, and delivery.
• Translate complex clinical, operational, and technical requirements into intuitive flows, information architecture, and scalable interaction models.
• Design data-dense workflows including queues, tables, search, filtering, bulk actions, statuses, audit trails, error handling, and exception management.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, CX, Clinical, Operations, Compliance, and other stakeholders to define problems, evaluate tradeoffs, and ship durable solutions.
• Create service blueprints, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, journey maps, interaction specifications, and decision documentation.
• Use AI and automation to reduce manual effort, improve workflow accuracy and visibility, while mentoring designers and supporting accessibility.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience designing digital products, preferably in enterprise, SaaS, healthcare, diagnostics, operations, or workflow-heavy software.
• Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end UX work, systems thinking, workflow design, stakeholder influence, and shipped outcomes.
• Strong skills in interaction design, information architecture, prototyping, complex workflow design, and data-dense interfaces.
• Experience collaborating with Product and Engineering on front-end constraints, component behavior, APIs, system states, feasibility, and implementation details.
• Practical experience designing accessible experiences and supporting design systems or component-library migrations.
• Proficiency with Figma, Figma Agent and MCP, VS Code prototyping workflows, modern collaboration tools, and AI-assisted design workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare, diagnostics, medical devices, digital health, insurance, logistics, or other regulated software environments.
• Experience designing clinical, operational, administrative, order-to-result, fulfillment, billing, routing, or exception-management workflows.
• Knowledge of enterprise search, navigation, permissions, audit trails, workflow observability, experimentation, and product or operational metrics.
• Experience working in GitHub environments with pull requests, documentation, and agents.
