Project Engineer II (Automotive)

Location: Portland, Oregon, United States. Hybrid schedule: four days per week in-office and one day remote. Applicants may work in or relocate to Portland, but relocation assistance is not available.

Starting salary: $86,000–$110,000 USD per year, depending on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What you will do

• Manage and support material cost optimization initiatives through the unified OLT process.
• Create project timelines and coordinate vehicle walkaround activities to identify cost and complexity opportunities.
• Facilitate cross-functional meetings, design reviews, feasibility discussions, and OLT preparation.
• Partner with Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, Finance, and Quality to validate technical measures and align execution.
• Maintain initiative ownership, governance, action tracking, status visibility, and presentation readiness.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 2–4 years of experience, or 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience working cross-functionally with Engineering or technical teams.
• Strong communication skills, including executive-level presentations and reporting.
• Ability to manage multiple projects at different maturity levels.
• Proficiency with SharePoint, MS Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Permanent legal authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship and existing visa holders are not accepted. A resume must be attached.

Nice to have

• Experience with cost reduction, value engineering, or complexity optimization.
• Experience with KPI development, product engineering, PAR, or engineering change management.
• Knowledge of material cost, manufacturing processes, or supply chain levers.
• Experience with AI-enabled or analytics tools.
